Machine Pitch

The AOR Machine Pitch division is co-ed and for players 6 to 8 years old. It is suitable for players who are completely new to baseball, as well as those graduating from T-Ball.  At AOR, this is the first division in which batters hit a pitched ball – in this case, pitched from an adjustable pitching machine.  All players bat and play in the field – there is no bench, and playing time is equal. Rosters are usually kept to around 12 players per team. All games are played at the Harmon Field complex, on the southeast corner of the intersection of O’Malley Rd and the Old Seward hwy. Practices may be held before games, and is up to the discretion of each team’s coach.  Teams play on the 40/60 fields, which is larger than the T-Ball fields.

Machine Pitch is meant to be an inclusive environment that sparks enthusiasm for the game of baseball, both for players and for parents. Coaches and other parents will typically be on the field to help players bat, run, and field throughout each game. Coaches are typically parents, and do not necessarily need baseball experience – the ability to constrictively work with kids and coordinate 10-12 games per year is more important.
